What happens at my Consultation?
A thorough medical history will be taken and Dr Harriss will discuss your concerns and examine your hair and scalp. You will be provided with all treatment options available to you along with an estimate of cost.
What is the Procedure?
To be able to extract the PRP from your body we will need to collect a small amount of blood from your arm, similar to a routine blood test. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge that spins the blood at high speeds which separates the platelets and plasma from the other blood cells.
Along with the PRP, the Pluryal® products are then delivered to the affected area through a series of painless injections.
How long will my appointment take?
Each appointment will last approximately 1 hour.
Does it hurt?
In short, no. We can use a topical anaesthetic on the injection sites, however most of the time this is not necessary as the method we use has little to no discomfort.
Are there any side effects?
This treatment comes with minimal bruising (if any) and no downtime. You may experience some soreness on the day of the treatment but this will subside.
How long until I see results?
The treatment is designed to stop hair loss from the first treatment. However, please note, your hair will still need to regrow, which can take time depending on your hair cycle at the time. may see results in as soon as 6 weeks, however most people see results after approximately 6 months.
How many appointments will I need?
We recommend a minimum of one full course of treatment which involves 3 appointments approximately 4weeks apart because not all hairs will be at the same phase in their growth and this is to target as many hairs as possible. However, you may have a longer course of treatment if desired.
We also recommend to repeat this treatment after 6 months to help maintain results.
I have had a hair transplant, can I have treatment?
Absolutely! In fact we recommend you continue PRP therapy as part of ongoing maintenance.
Aftercare
After having your treatment you are advised to avoid using any other products on the area for 24 hours. This is to ensure the area is kept clean and to reduce any chance of infection.
