Routine Examinations at Appletree Dental Surgery

As the famous saying goes…”Prevention is better than Cure”. Regular dental examinations are important to maintain you oral hygiene and to recognise any issues early.

What does a routine examination involve?

Routine dental examinations involve a thorough assessment of your teeth, gums and mouth including your cheeks and tongue.

An X-ray of your teeth may also be taken, allowing the dentist to see the exact position of your teeth in the jawline and making it easier to detect cavities or any other underlying issues.

For regular patients, the appointment will start with a few questions about your general health and any problems that you have had since your last visit.

Your dentist will then have a discussion about any concerns that you may have about your oral health, smile, lifestyle or wellbeing.

Our friendly and experienced team will make you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible and it usually doesn’t take as long as you expect.

Your First Visit

For your first visit, a complete health history will be taken so please come in plenty of time.

Your Dentist will then discuss any issues or concerns that you may have with you and also your expectations of your treatment followed by a thorough examination.

X-rays of your teeth may also be taken, these allow the dentist to see the exact position of your teeth in the jawline and make it easier to detect cavities and any other underlying issues.

They may advise for you to see a hygienist for a thorough clean of your teeth and gums, either routinely, or if they detect gum problems.
