Using Enlighten the results are fantastic and long lasting with really simple maintenance.
We will take accurate impressions and make the Enlighten whitening trays for you to wear for two weeks overnight at home. We provide you with the unique Enlighten desensitisers and Tooth Serum to make the whole process as comfortable as possible.
We recommend a hygiene appointment prior to commencing treatment to remove any residual plaque and staining to ensure that you get the best possible result.
How does tooth whitening work?
Tooth whitening is a continuous treatment that is administered to brighten the natural colour of your teeth, as well as remove stains and discolouration without harming the condition of your teeth.
Your dentist will prescribe you a whitening gel that is applied to your custom trays (these are made from impressions of your teeth, so they fit perfectly). In order to achieve your preferred shade, you must wear your trays for several hours a day or overnight until you are satisfied with results, this usually happens over a period of two weeks.
Are there any side effects of teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening is extremely safe when it is prescribed by a Certified Dental Surgeon. However, a common side effect is that some people do find that their teeth become sensitive during and after the treatment, this can be easily resolved by using the sensitive toothpaste provided.
Some individuals may experience sore gums or white patches on the gumline, although these symptoms should subside within a few days of having the treatment.
How to maintain whiter teeth?
Teeth whitening treatments are temporary procedures, although your teeth may maintain the level of whiteness for up to three years.
In order to maintain whiteness for as long as possible you should:
– Brush your teeth at least twice a day using a fluoride toothpaste
-Reduce intake of dark-coloured drinks and food especially for 30minutes after whitening
– Avoid smoking
– Regular Stain removing appointments with our hygienists
Am I suitable for Tooth Whitening?
At your Consultation your Dentist will examine your teeth to ensure that there is no decay present and that you mouth is at optimum health. It may be suggested that you make an appointment with one of our Hygienists prior to starting.
Tooth coloured filling material, crown and bridge work will unfortunately not lighten, therefore if you are having this treatment, consider whitening before having the restoration done as part of the treatment plan
