Wisdom Tooth Pain
Wisdom tooth pain can present as an ache at the back of your jaw, it can cause swelling and even restrict your mouth opening. Usually you will require antibiotics however, here is some advice as what to do in the meantime.
♦ Take pain relief as and when required, see Pain Relief
♦ When brushing your teeth, scrub the back of your mouth where your wisdom teeth may be erupting or partially erupted. Often the inflammation is caused because some of the gum covers the wisdom tooth and food and bacteria get stuck under this causing inflammation and infection
♦ Rinse your mouth at least 4 times a day with warm, salty water to help draw out infection
♦ If you have Corsodyl Mouthwash, rinse with this 3 times a day AS WELL but at a separate time to brushing (it reacts with toothpaste and causes brown staining on your teeth).
